There comes a time in life, when you prepare yourself for a big day. You have thought about this time for years. And now you finally made it in a series of events.
For some it is getting admission at a remarkable college, or marrying with right person, for some it could be buying the first shoes for their parents.
Here at Hometown I and my team are in the middle of such moment right now.
Launching HOMETOWN! Oh WOW! Our first collection includes, ready to wear men shoes, wallets and belts and a special Pakistani footwear, called Chappal.
So no matter who you are, what you wear (canvas trouser, jeans, kurta or anything in between), and in which part of the world you live. You can surely shop one thing or two, or just come over, see what we have been doing, tell us what we should. More, you can also get custom shoes just made for you.
HOMETOWN came into exist for two main reasons, I and my team wanted to play our best shot so far, and to make use of exceptional skills of our craftsmen.
We short-listed several products, tried to find what can be done, and what will work best. For example, we failed 24 times, to make one of our Chappal. And now when we see it, we feel like, you know how it feels.
They say, journey of one thousand miles start with one step, it can be short, or slow, but it is probablly the most important. We have taken it, you’ve taken it, if you are reading this post and I so believe together, we’ll learn how to live a better life and celebrate all what it has to offer. There is so much more to say, but I’ll let our products and service communicate that with you. Thank you so much for being with all the time, and if you have any thing to say, I force you to write in comments on Hometown Blog or here.
That’s right. Twitter bird is in the cage of Pakistani government. One never knows, what they are up to and till when.
Our IT Ministry thinks that if someone in the world create and share blasphemous content through social media sites. Then it is in the best interest of the state and people to block the site for millions of users in the country.
Last year they were trying banning Facebook for the same reasons. Shall we stop them?
PS. I just wrote to some leading tech blogs to support and thankfully TechCrunch covered it.
Like me, if you live on Internet and Pakistan, strong are the chances you’re already familiar with the Authority of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). We know PTA from their active involvement in our SMS, Watching us online, and yes banning Facebook and other websites in general.
Most recently over 1,000 porn sites were blocked by internet service providers (ISP), directed by PTA. It was also stated by a source, “They are adding to the list on a daily basis.”
Here is where I and PTA get face-to-face, my problem is not like they have blocked my favorite porn site. History is history, we all share it. Instead they added my innocent site in the list too, and it is blocked today.
When you visit the link in Pakistan, it reads: “THE SITE IS RESTRICTED” and site name appears as PTCL. So I instantly called to PTCL helpline inquiring them the problem my website is facing. But after a 13 min long wait, their busy CSR told that it is blocked from PTA and PTCL has nothing to do with it.
From its website, PTA claims ‘‘To promote and protect the interests of users of telecommunication services in Pakistan.” But instead from my experience PTA is causing loss to my business and now I’m insecure about running my website in Pakistan. How sad..!
Any ways, I visited PTA website assuming for some help, but in vain. No one answered my call from any of their contact numbers. More, I wrote an email, hoping that they would solve my problem at an earliest when they see my complain message.
This is not at all childish or minor mistake. PTA has the responsibility to make our life easier on web and telecommunication in general. But such continuous stupid mistakes are making it worse for people like me. I am angry and sad at the same time.
PTA is keeping to over use its authority. Shall we stop them?
The suspect Qadri told to police in his statement that, “I killed him because he said blasphemy law a kala qanoon(a black law).”
Salmaan Taseer was on of the famous people in Pakistan who used twitter frequently, he was supporter of freedom of expression.
What I think actually happened is that the Qadri’s mind was being washed, it didn’t take it a month or year, but our minds are being washed since decades by extremisim and this is the result that when one person tries to speak up, he/she will be killed.
Blasphemy law was being created by Zia ul-Haq, to empower the extremists and they have been using it for their purpose freely, so they’ll not tolerate if any Taseer would ask or stand for an amendmend in it. You could be killed.
Few days back when talking to one of my indian friend, I told him that it took me three years to have my family a secular family. But I’m still not sure because our media, mosques, schools, universities and almost all institutes are being impacted by the ideas of extremists and they are on their way to wash as many brains as possible. So it is easy to talk about Pakistan as a secular and peacful state but it is really very difficult to execute it, but this is the only way of survival for us.
This is what exactly happened with Salmaan Taseer and he had to give his life for this. I am not supporter of PPP(Taseer’s political party) but I support for what he stood and he claimed to be firm even if he is the last man. I really salute him for leading by example.
Qadri is not the only person who fired 26 shots on him, but the collective guilt are the people who have been supporting the imposition of blasphemy law blindly and all those parties & politicians who for a PURPOSE & REASON are resitance to any attempts to change this dark legacy of General Ziaul Haq.
Unfortunately, Pakistani media will do it best to cash this hot story, they’ll talk about the security condition. They are showing pictures of assassinated Salmaan Taseer’s body, more videos and pictures will be published as soon as any DOST (friend) sends it to them. More red-alerts and spreading a new wave of depression to already depressed Pakistanis, they have always been doing so.
At the end, for those who are striving for a different and better Pakistan, need to learn that it is not easy to make change, it has always been very difficult to do great things. But please know this is the only way to DO IT! Never Back Down!
And for those who are responsible for this murder, this assassination itself is a big message for you. We’ll knock you out. See what Salmaan Taseer tweeted four days back
