Remember that I used to write, sometime quite frequently. But it hasn’t been happening for some time now.
Part of that is because I am really busy at Hometown. Part of that is I have been lazy about, and was finding it difficult writing at personal level. Also (believe it or not) part of that is because I no longer like this platform as much. Everytime I or someone landed on my website. It would show you some really silly and unrelated Ads on my page. So I was looking into a new place for my writing.
So my blog is moving to SVBTLE. It is a new kind of magazine platform and they are trying to make it easier for people to share and discover new ideas. Part of that includes helping writers (like me) with copy editing and fast-checking. I think I am gonna use them to improve my writing skills.
Good thing is that my blog address will still be waqasali.me and you can also subcribe via email. So let’s see how it goes and thank you for sticking and riding along.
Just now when I was coming out of my washroom, I saw an ant moving on the sink. At first it did not look like an ant at all. I thought it is anyother comparatively bigger insect. But when I got closer, it was an ant holding a piece of food bigger then itself. I think we become what we carry.
We can carry anything, a camera, a hope, some anger, business idea, a flower, thoughts of revenge, a regret or anything out there. Some time you can even carry an idea which could connect 850 million people. In short, everyone of us is set to ship something.
I often whisper: “A lot gets changed, and it’ll be changed more by time.”
Lately I have been in lot of changes, mostly positives.
Now on this blog I want to talk about what I am doing, rather than what I or you should be trying becoming.
As some of you know, I am trying building a startup. A real business where I have to convince people to buy my product (mostly shoes). In fact I am learning how to make physical products from scratch. And how to ship when it is hard.
Now I am realising this more than ever that why someone like ‘Sheeda Dabay Wala’ (Sheeda box maker) is smarter than guys with an MBA from a leading business school.
Entrepreneurship is fun, but at the same time, probably the most sensitive fun one could ever have. For example, yesterday someone stole my motor bike from the parking. This bike was gifted by my brother to help me in my business. And now it is with me no more, but then no matter what, let’s keep shipping.
Let’s keep shipping for what we set overselves.
In coming days and months, I shall write how I am building the business and what is important which I am learning, relearning or unlearning.
My focus will be more on the business and workable side of the world rather than just preaching how to be a better human. Better human is important, but one can help more people if you have the idea of getting something physical out of that.
In short I am all set now. The site name is changed from ‘Waqas A Day’ in to Waqas Ali.
And yes, now we have a tagline/message: “Set for Shipping.”
Exactly a year back when I was finishing 2010, I had many goals, and challenges set for me. One of them was ‘writing daily‘ which I couldn’t fulfill. I have published 117 posts on this blog, including this one.
To tell you the inside story, I couldn’t do most of what I planned.
I had a to-do list for 2011, which is ending with less accomplishments but thankfully more learning than ever. My purpose was to do few things regularly which would make me a better person for 2011. Gladly, I’m a better person today than what I was a year back.
This time, things are changed. Instead of thinking for what to do in 2012, I have been thinking what not to do.
I want to make it clear to myself, to stop doing few things. Which haven’t been very helping to me. The idea of Not To-Do List was introduced to my by my friend Ivana Sendecka, you can read her post about here.
This is what I’m not doing in 2012. I shall try my best to stand with them all.
speak (and write) unless I have something truly important to state
be fooled again by so-called experts
hesitate to tell the gurus/experts that they are scammers and talkers
join any majority
take junk food more than 5 times a month
make promise, unless I have strong will, time and energy to deliver it
UPDATE (April29, 2012): ThoughWordPress.com now lets you add your own twitter username when using the Tweet Button. For this you need to set up Publicize feature for Twitter. (Official message from WordPress.com here.)
NOTE: When I enabled this feature, it didn’t work at first. So I disabled and enabled again, and it worked fine for a day or two. IT HAS STOPPED WORKING AGAIN NOW.
But don’t worry.
To create your own tweet button, please go through these steps.
This button’s function include:
adds my twitter handle / username after the Post Title and URL
suggests non-followers to follow me on Twitter
shows the main website link after RT
But this will not show the tweets count.
You can test it by using the tweet button below. 😉
It is safe to assume that you already know why your company should have an active corporate blog, so rather than repeating our previous points, let’s talk about how your corporate blog should work to enhance the company’s profitability in a long run. A corporate blog is an essential communication tool for many start-ups and companies, both in U.S and in Asia.
Here are 7 tips to help you get most out of your corporate blog. These tips are gathered as I manage a corporate blog myself, run a digital consulting firm, and also through my years of experience learning and writing about how businesses interact.
It’s been 40 days since I haven’t wrote anything on this blog. The only reason I didn’t is Laziness. Yes I have reasons to advocate my absence, but I and you know there is no valid reason to not to do anything when you seriously want to do.
Well, when I’m writing this post there is another tab opened in my browser about 13 Ways To Get Back Into Blogging. I read that, but seriously it didn’t help me.
That’s why I just decided to DO IT! This is because it is only between you and me. I care for the genuine connection between us, and seriously I feel sorry for a long disconnection from my side.
These 40 days have taught me a lot, about myself. I talked to myself, watched movies and ignored that I’ve a blog where me and my friends communicate and learn together.
But I missed it, I missed when a new connection start. I missed the feeling of clicking the Publish Button after writing a post. I missed you all. In fact I missed a big part of me, who’s passionate about Changing World and creating art each single day. Thankfully I’m back. More Thankfully you’re back too.
This is not just my personal assumption that things will be back to normal just because of me. It is because of you people who care.
Believe me if you haven’t done some wonderful thing in a long time. Don’t lose heart, life is not over, nor inside you. Either it is blogging, morning walk, teaching or photography or anything. You can do it because only you can do it.
I’m back, we’re back. Get back, do it! I hope you guys have good health. Say hello if you want. Or share. Also tell me what you have been up to. How did the Easter go?
