What Makes Anyone A Hero (story)

This Monday afternoon, I was walking back from a bank where I had some work. On my way back, there were few cars parked on the service road (frontage road) when I heard the sound of breaking glass.

It was a guy, who broke the door glass of a parked car to get the laptop + bag out. While his friend was on motorcycle ready to leave any second. When the guy near car saw me turning back, he signaled me to go back. But I kept advancing carefully.

The guy felt nervous, left the laptop bag in the car, and escaped on the bike with his friend.

Now I had no idea, where is the car owner. As there were couple of big buildings around and he could be in any of them. I thought to wait and guard his valuable bag and other stuff in the car. Actually I was afraid those guys can come back to take the bag. I waited for 30 min till the owner came.

When I was waiting, the idea of stealing came into my mind too. One of the major reasons was, I badly want and need a laptop.

I have no laptop of my own, this one which I am using now is of my friend Sidra and she is so nice to give it to me. But yes she needs it back too.

It was not just the thought of stealing came into my mind. Then I said to myself, “This laptop is very valuable to the owner as well, and he needs it to work on it too. So honestly return this property back to whoever is the owner.”

It is so nice now to think about what I decided, I felt like a hero after this. In fact some of my friends said this too. But believe me, it is ain’t so easy. And at the same time, it ain’t so difficult.

Later that evening, I got many good words from my friend and a very encouraging phone call from mom. That is the best reward.

Here is the response to my Facebook status update:

Let’s close it, so what makes us a hero.

1. I and you are always surrounded with the thoughts of being selfish and taking share of someone’ else. What matter is the patience, believing that earned is always better than the given.

2. If someone asks me, who is the most special person in the world. I would say that is me. Everyday I go against myself, to go with myself.

I am a hero!

Did you know you are a hero too?

Are You Inspired By Yourself? BE!

When making a list of inspirational people. We focus on individual(s), who’s work, achievements and/or failures have touched us emotionally.

Whenever we think of an inspirational hero, we recall his story and immediately look for a way to apply that in our real life.

What is getting inspiration from within? This is something I often think about. The reason I am penning it finally is, today a new (Facebook) friend, Andreas Ittermann, who added himself to his list of inspirational people.

Here is what I think why we’re most inspired by no one, but us.

If you ever happen to encourage a kid or student, especially after a mistake or a failure. We use their past experience, small achievements for a proof that they can be successful or get up.

Or take it in this way, when I watched invictus, the movie about Nelson Mandela.

I reminded myself of the time when I defeated a 9 month long disease, which almost killed me. I recall some darkest periods of my 23 years long life, I’m the guy who studied a school where were no furnitures, who now wants to be something big, more than what I or you think.

Yes, this is the science or art behind the self inspiration. We watch, read, listen or learn about great people, stories. We think of ourselves doing the same in our circumstances. No one is true hero, but you’re.

Now just take a deep breath.

Think for 5 moments when you made youself WOW! When you did something which saved a life (yours, family member, or even a fly), when you born your baby. Or when you made your wife laugh.

You were are the hero of that moment, you’re the hero of this moment.

Take inspiration from anywhere, save it and cook it within yourself. Get inspired by yourself and take action.

Remember result doesn’t matter the most, action does.

Go add yourself in the list of your inspiration people.

Go be Hero of yourself. And I trust anyone, including and especially you, can be a hero. If you don’t believe, read here.

Are You Inspired by the Global Village?

It was 2001, and I was in grade 7 when I learned about the term Global Village. A guy opened first Internet cafe in my hometown Basirpur, the cafe name was ‘Global Village Internet Cafe.’ I liked the combination of global and village. But I really didn’t know what this term and internet is about.

I learned it an interesting way, it was 2007, third semester at my college, when I took a course ‘Christian Ethics.’ My intend was to communicate better with my Christian friends. The teacher named ‘Bob Wetmore’ (who was an American, visiting faculty member) created a course website using Google Sites.

Same days, I was an active member of my college’s environmental club, so I decided to create a basic website for the club using Google Sites. But I had no idea how to do this. 😉

We needed the website to collect data from volunteers and members of the club, so a contact form was required. That was the first time, when I wrote an email to a stranger. The guy named, Brian, had a wonderful Google Sites and also knew all the feature. I told him about our problem, he helped. We exchanged 5-6 emails and problem was sorted.

Brian is now my friend on Facebook, he lives in US. Also he was the first person who introduced me with the power of internet and how it can be used for good. This small and now pretty normal incident changed my perception about technology and how it can help us serve other people in any mean.

Today someone I really admire wrote me, “Waqas, I just discovered this today. You are a star! Carry on.”

It is now revealed to me, focusing on work and staying positive with yourself and others can turn you into a star. No matter how small are you, you can enlighten this world when it is needed.

This is why I founded Indo-Pak Peace Media(a community to bring peace between India and Pakistan), and started connecting with new people around the Global Village. Now I’m also working on to bring Pakistan online, through an upcoming tech-blog, where I aim to help people use Internet for good.

Sometimes I use this blog just to communicate with you people on what I’m up to. This post is the example.

I googled Villages Pakistan, here are some of the beautiful photos for you.

Being the First One to Cross the River

I recall being in early teens, throwing food for crows. It starts with a crow, who sees it first and then it calls others, and then the whole group waits till the most hungry one jump on the food. In next moments you see every one is on the food.

The same nature I have noticed in other species, as if I’m not on my computer, I’m most probably on National Georaphic or any other wild life TV. I want to state, I have observed it quite often.

Now on the human side, it is the same. We see in every field, no matter if it is fashion industry, book publishing, or communication or any other, we are in wait of the next new. We’re bored with the current one and eagerly waiting new one to come in so we shall join it too (like everyone else).

It is in our nature to avoid being the first one to do something, both good and bad. So it is okay not to be the first one in family who blogs regularly, it is okay not to be the first one to deliver a great business experience in your industry. It is okay not to be the first leader in your community. It is okay not to be the first one to do something meaningful. Because we are not that great and it is the duty of great people to do this and that.

Often we wait until we are too hungry, or in other words get pushed by circumstances to take actions. I also see many people give the reason of less prepared to start something. But we have discussed earlier, and found it clearly that, we are seeking for leaders, not perfect.

Here is video, which conveys the same message. It might help you to better understand what I want to say. It all might help you to be the first one to do… to do that… Yes you know what you need to do.

We are Seeking for Leaders, Not Ideals

Yesterday I had some guests. First three school teachers who teach in the same school where my mother does. Almost everyone of them asked me how they can better grow their children and make them like Me. 😉 Also after they left, I had another visitor, a young guy who was going to get admission in college for grades, he was also seeking for someone who can guide him in a way or two.

Though I believe I’m not yet that great teacher, which I want to be, but I realized some truth about leadership.

A leader is the person who:

  • is not a guru, he is a normal guy who’s good at somethings and bad at many things.
  • make use of what he is good at.
  • leads the change, in other word who is always the first one to stand for something usually when no one believes in.
  • gets fail and then try again and again.

These are indeed great points, but to even better understanding how the process of leadership starts, we look into another angle. When Martin L. King, or Mandela stood for their rights, they were not the best black persons on earth.

There must be black guys in their community who were wiser, healthier, better communicator. But the thing is everyone was afraid to stand for that.

Mandela did not wait of any genius to start the journey of freedom, he did it.

Dear reader, We are Seeking for Leaders, Not Ideals, so don’t worry if you’re not good at something, you can lead your family, community, world. Come! Lead us!

Did You Notice? Good Folks Bringing ‘Love’ on Web

I have an active account at Tumblr too. Today I got am email from them, here is the screenshot.

Second one:
Even if you have never heard of his music, chances are you have heard about Justin Bieber. Here is his one of most recent tweet.

I strongly believe in the power of few genuine words and this all is an example of what I advocate.

Do you bring ‘Love’ to your people, customers, readers and/or pets? Should you? I believe you know the answer. 😉

Love U!

Best Way to Get Back Into Blogging or Anything After Laziness

[tweetmeme source=”Waqas6” only_single=false]

In short: Do It Now!

(or keep continuing for more)

It’s been 40 days since I haven’t wrote anything on this blog. The only reason I didn’t is Laziness. Yes I have reasons to advocate my absence, but I and you know there is no valid reason to not to do anything when you seriously want to do.

Well, when I’m writing this post there is another tab opened in my browser about 13 Ways To Get Back Into Blogging. I read that, but seriously it didn’t help me.

That’s why I just decided to DO IT! This is because it is only between you and me. I care for the genuine connection between us, and seriously I feel sorry for a long disconnection from my side.

These 40 days have taught me a lot, about myself. I talked to myself, watched movies and ignored that I’ve a blog where me and my friends communicate and learn together.

But I missed it, I missed when a new connection start. I missed the feeling of clicking the Publish Button after writing a post. I missed you all. In fact I missed a big part of me, who’s passionate about Changing World and creating art each single day. Thankfully I’m back. More Thankfully you’re back too.

This is not just my personal assumption that things will be back to normal just because of me. It is because of you people who care.

Believe me if you haven’t done some wonderful thing in a long time. Don’t lose heart, life is not over, nor inside you. Either it is blogging, morning walk, teaching or photography or anything. You can do it because only you can do it.

I’m back, we’re back. Get back, do it! I hope you guys have good health. Say hello if you want. Or share. Also tell me what you have been up to. How did the Easter go?

Thank you all for your care.

Very yours,

Waqas

Be Thankful, Go For A Walk

It is been ten days now when I wrote last post. I have no idea what to write these days. This might be because I’m not doing anything worth to write about.

But I’m going for a walk in few min now, (it’s 7:45pm at the moment) in a nearby park. Isn’t this amazing that we can go for a walk, see greenery, pass time with self, think and get fresh mentally and physically. Even then I do it rarely.

I’m going for a walk, see you with a fresh mind and mood.
